Holiday deals, charity drives, delivery notices, scammers love this season as much as we do. On Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m., Tech Savvy for Seniors will present Frauds & Scams, a workshop at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre that will show exactly how modern scams work and how to shut them down fast.

Led by Dawn and Marie Cobalt, co-founders of Tech Savvy and owners of FutureView Multimedia, this 90- to 120-minute, highly interactive session uses real emails, texts and phone messages to teach the telltale signs of a con. Attendees will practice spotting red flags on-screen, rehearse what to say — and what not to say — on suspicious calls, like

▪ Email and Text Traps: Phishing, smishing and those “Your package is delayed” links. How to verify before you click.

▪ Phone Spoofing and AI Voice Clones: Why caller ID can’t be trusted and how to confirm a loved one’s voice.

▪ Bank, Medicare and Tech‑Support Cons: Common scripts thieves use to get account numbers or remote access.

▪ Charity and Holiday Shopping Scams: Safe donating and shopping checklists for the busiest giving season.

▪ Password, 2‑Step Verification and Wi‑Fi Basics: Simple defenses that stop most attackers cold.

Every attendee receives a printed slide deck covering the workshop; participation in a no‑judgment Q&A — every question is welcome and answered; and raffle entry for a complimentary ticket to the next workshop.

Bring a fully charged laptop, tablet or smar phone so you can follow along with demonstrations.

Tickets are $30 in advance; $35 at the door. To order by phone, call (928) 282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. SR 89A, in West Sedona. Visit SedonaFilmFestival.org for more information or to buy tickets online.
