Attorney Christianson Resigns1 min read

Moving family to Atlanta; Coady named interim

Sedona City Attorney Kurt Christianson is leaving his position for a private sector job in Atlanta on Thursday, Aug. 13, at which point Assistant City Attorney Monique Coady will be appointed as interim head of the city’s legal department.

“I move that council accept, reluctantly, the resignation of … Christianson,” Councilwoman Kathy Kinsella said emerging from an executive session on Tuesday, June 9, during which the council discussed Christianson’s annual evaluation. “We express our deep gratitude to him, and we wish him and his family all the best with their relocation.”

Christianson started with the city on Aug. 31, 2020, after spending eight years as Glendale’s assistant city attorney and a year with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Arizona.

“We asked him for five years, and he gave us five years, so can’t expect anything more,” interim Mayor Holli Ploog said. “He’s a young man, and he has great opportunities, but we — we will miss him, because he has served us well.”
