On Monday, Feb. 2, the 100+ Women Who Care Sedona-Verde Valley Chapter voted Project Fill the Need as the chose recipĀient during their winter Giving Circle.

Kathy Wozniak, Project Fill the Need board president, spoke to members about its food pantry located at the Big Park Community School in the Village of Oak Creek. The nonprofit provides healthy, non-perishable and perishable food to any underserved resident in the Village of Oak Creek, Rimrock, Camp Verde, Lake Montezuma, Sedona and Cornville. Since beginning in 2021, it has served over 6,800 people, and each month serves approximately 120 household members. To learn more about Project Fill the Need or volunteer, email info@projectfilltheneed.org or call Kathy Wozniak (602) 541-8425.

The Humane Society of Sedona and Cornville-based Miss Foundation and Selah Carefarm were also finalists. Each nonprofit presented its mission and reasons they should be selected the chose recipient. After members voted for the nonprofit of their choice, they wrote a $100 check directly to the chose recipient. Project Fill the Need will receive approxiĀmately $15,000. Some of the 155 members also wrote an extra check to the other finalists.

The 100+ Women Who Care club is beginning its sixth year and 17th Giving Circle since beginning in October 2020. The $300 yearly contribution has collectively donated $228,000 to 16 nonprofits throughout the Verde Valley. Some chapĀters in larger cities have fewer members which shows the spirit of generosity and commitment this group.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of this important orgaĀnization and making an impact in our community can email Carol Wallen at roycar80@gmail.com to receive an Individual Commitment Form or ask questions.
