ADOT plans to finish “Y” work2 min read

Crews will be completing the north half of the inner circle at the ‘Y’ roundabout. This is to be completed by the end of the week.

According to a press release, beginning Monday, Aug. 18, traffic headed north on Highway 89A toward the ‘Y’ intersection is reduced to one lane just prior to entering the roundabout at the ‘Y’. This is scheduled until the end of the week. Traffic will flow better from West Sedona if both lanes are used all the way up to the merge point, rather than just backing up in one lane. Then vehicles should alternate one at a time from each lane into the one-lane section.

Once median work on the ‘Y’ roundabout is done over the next few weeks, both roundabouts will be open to two lanes on Highway 89A.

ADOT thanks drivers for their patience during this complex portion of the construction project. The team is still on pace to have the intersection open to traffic on or before Labor Day weekend.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues.

ADOT tries to anticipate construction activities a week in advance, but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures with short delays may not always be known in advance.
