The Great Wall of China held back the Mongol barbarians.
The holy Western Wall in Jerusalem is a place of pilgrimage for Judaism.
The walls of Rome stood for 1,000 years until the Vandal tribes invaded and, well, vandalized the city — then burned it to the ground just to rub it in.
On Saturday, April 5, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., the Wall of Tom comes to the Hideaway restaurant in Sedona to do the opposite of what walls do — let people in.

The Wall of Tom joins Sedona band Dirty Lingo and Sedona guitarist Jake Payne to celebrate Payne’s upcoming wedding to April Holman on Monday, April 7.
Tony Grimes and Tommie Vaughn comprise the musical duo that forms the foundations of the band Wall of Tom. For the last six years, the band has taken up a range of genres on each album ranging from rock, punk, blues and jazz.
Grimes and Vaughn met in Los Angeles and fell in love while performing shows together.
The fact that the band’s core is a couple melds perfectly with the nature of the gig, which leads up to the wedding of longtime Sedona residents Holman and Payne.
Payne will also perform an acoustic set at the April 5 show. Payne is one of Sedona’s best-loved acoustic guitarists, whose indie rock music conveys emotional sincerity with poetic lyrics and instrumental prowess.
Dirty Lingo blends the skills of bass player John Hayden, guitarist Mike Chapman and drummer Adam Wolin.
The Hideaway restaurant is located at 251 Hwy. 179, Sedona. There is no cover.
