An unidentified man wearing a “Scream mask” attempted to rob a fast food restaurant in the Village of Oak Creek at gun point but fled the scene when employees ignored him, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

The man walked up to the drive-through window of the Subway restaurant on Hwy. 179 in VOC shortly before 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20, YCSO reported.

Witnesses reported that the man was wearing a white mask with a ghost image when he pointed a handgun through the window and ordered a restaurant employee to hand over all of the money in the cash register, according to YCSO.

The employee ducked down and fled to the rear of the restaurant without handing the robber any cash.

The bandit fled the scene on foot, leaving his mask and glove on the ground near Hwy. 179.

No other description of the man was available, YCSO reported.

The armed robbery attempt was the second in as many months in the VOC.

YCSO continues to search for the unidentified suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at Chase Bank in November.

During that incident, the robber wielded a knife.

The stickup took place shortly after 1 p.m. as a 36-year-old VOC convenience store employee was making a cash drop.

The victim reported that the bandit poked him twice with the knife and grabbed the money pouch before the victim was able to place it in the night drop.

The suspect in the Chase Bank hold-up was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and black-framed eyeglasses.

The suspect fled the scene in a blue passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier.

Any person with information about either crime should contact YCSO at 1-928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
