The Sedona Marathon Event full marathon has been cancelled by the U.S. Forest Service due to rain.
According to the Sedona Marathon Event Facebook page, “We are looking forward to welcoming the half, 10K and 5K, participants tomorrow morning. The full marathon course has been shortened to the half due to the USFS road closure. Due to limits places on us by area agencies, we are unable to loop the half marathon course. Please join us tomorrow at 9:00 am for an amazing event!!”
An email was also sent out to inform of the cancellation by the Sedona Marathon Event. It reads:
Attention Full Marathon Registrants:
The US Forest Service has closed Road 525 due to inclement weather. Our permit requires us to now shorten the Full Marathon.
All Full Marathon registrants will be moved to the Half Marathon.
A $15 credit will be provided to Full Marathon registrants, which can be used towards registration for next year’s Sedona Marathon Event (February 6, 2016).
If you have any questions, please go to the Solutions table at the Expo today or at the Race tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Sedona Marathon Event Race Administration
Despite the Sedona Marathon Event full marathon being shut down by the U.S. Forest Service, the USFS cannot kick individual runners off the road should they decide to run anyway, though they will be doing it as individuals, not as part of the event.
