A Sedona resident has “presumptively” tested positive for COVID-19. According to a release from Yavapai County Community Health Services, a Sedona resident has tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.
The case is currently under investigation by Yavapai County Community Health Services, and contacts to the case are also being identified and contacted.
Yavapai County release no details whatsoever about the resident, his or her age, nor where the test was conducted, nor by what labratory.
According the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a presumptive positive case means an individual with at least one respiratory specimen tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 at a state or local laboratory. A laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 case is one in which an individual with at least one respiratory specimen tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 at a CDC laboratory.
“To assist our partners, CDC has developed a form that provides a standardized approach to reporting PUIs, presumptive positive cases and laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 case. These data are needed to track the impact of the outbreak and inform public health response,” the CDC stated. “Coronavirus or COVID-19, is a disease caused by the newly emerged coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. To prevent further spread of SARS-CoV-2 and to collect information to better understand the virus and its impact on health outcomes, CDC is working with state and local health departments to identify persons under investigation in the United States and test them for the virus that causes COVID-19.”
This is the 45th case in Arizona.
It is imperative to continue to practice good hygiene, social distancing, avoiding social gatherings of 10 or more, avoid discretionary travel, shopping trips and social visits, according to the county.
