Over the last decade or so, one of the things more and more communities have requested are dog parks. Sedona has offered one for the last 10 years and will soon be looking for public input as to how to improve it.

The Sedona Parks and Recreation Department invites interested community members to attend one of two outreach meetings on Monday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. and/or
5 p.m. at the Recreation Room at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road. This room is located beside the playground and adjacent to the multi-use grass field at the park. No RSVP is necessary.

“The point of the meetings is to come up with ideas for possible upgrades or changes and a logical order to do that,” Parks and Recreation Manager Rachel Murdoch said. “We want to hear what their concerns are. I’m also interested to see if there are any requests I haven’t heard about yet.”

Over the years, Murdoch said she’s heard complaints regarding drainage erosion, the height of the fence, the watering station and the overall dryness and dustiness of the park. She said there hasn’t been a major outcry for grass at the park. However, based on the popularity of Yappy Hour on the grassy, multi-use field, she said people have asked if it could be open to dogs full time.
