Sedona Interim Mayor Holli Ploog signed a local Proclamation of Emergency on Tuesday, Nov. 2, in response to ongoing impacts from the Sunday, Nov. 1, flooding that continues to impact the Sedona community.
The proclamation allows the city to continue coordinating resources and response efforts while seeking additional assistance through the emergency declaration process.
City of Sedona officials are coordinating with neighboring Verde Valley municipalities, Yavapai and Coconino county agencies, emergency management agencies and Arizona state officials to assess damages, address public safety needs and identify available resources for affected residents and businesses.
The city is communicating with Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs’ office regarding next steps in the disaster and emergency declaration process. State and regional partners are working together to evaluate impacts and determine what additional support may be available to the community.
“The safety and well-being of our residents remains our highest priority,” Ploog said. “We appreciate the continued cooperation and support of our regional, county and state partners as we work through this emergency.”
“Our police department, along with other city services staff have been out working to help our community address the aftermath of this flooding,” interim City Manager Kevin Phelps said. “They’ve been out doing damage assessment and ensuring safe emergency access to neighborhoods that are most impacted.”
Recovery information is at sedonaaz.gov/floodrecovery.
The city will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
