Halloween fun is coming to Sedona and the Verde Valley.
Sedona
Uptown Trick-or-Treat will spread the joy of the season, along with candy, on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A chorus of delighted screams emitting from the 3,000 souls who typically attend will descend on Uptown as Halloween and the season of spookiness spread across the red rocks.
“This is a longtime beloved trick or treating tradition for Sedona families,” Parks and Recreation special events coordinator Jason Vargo said. “Seeing that we don’t have one particular cohesive door to door neighborhood that is conducive to trick or treating, we have established an Uptown trick or treat where all of the trick or treaters go door to door to our Uptown merchants, say ‘hello,’ and collect candy or maybe tricks.”
Parks and Recreation will be set up in front of Canyon Breeze, with Vargo hinting that attendees who stop by the department’s booth will “want to bundle up because it’s going to be chilly at our booth” with regard to its theme for 2026. The Sedona Fire District will be wheeling out the Haunted Ambulance once again and handing out glow-in-the-dark necklaces.
There will be no street closures or traffic redirections to accommodate the Uptown trick or treaters, but the Sedona Police Department will be on hand for street crossings.
The Sedona Dance Project and Sedona Dance Academy are returning with the “Thriller” dance flash mob in Sacajawea Plaza every 15 minutes from 6 to 8 p.m. Additionally, everyone is invited to join in.
The costume contest returns this year, and Vargo said a photo booth will be set up near Canyon Breeze to enter and that winners and categories will be determined by reactions to the costumes on social media and the winners will receive gift cards to various Uptown merchants.

“A partial closure of Main Street will be in effect for the event,” according to the city of Cottonwood. “There will be no curbside parking on Main Street in Old Town from Pima Street to Yavapai Street on [Halloween]. Main Street will close to traffic at 2 p.m. and is expected to reopen by 8 p.m. the same evening.”
The Old Town Jail parking lot will remain open during the event, and drivers should use Cactus Street as a detour while Main Street is closed.
