Team takes home victory rings at season’s end
This is the Red Rock Rebels’ second season as a Sedona volleyball team practicing at the local elementary school and competing in the 11U division in the Showtime Sportz Cottonwood League. The team finished its regular season with a 7-1 record, earning the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs.
While the team is proud of its success on the court, the bigger story is the continued growth of girls volleyball here in Sedona. More young athletes are developing skills, confidence, teamwork and a love for the game. Sedona has formed a team to compete in the Cottonwood league for the past two years, giving local athletes valuable experience while helping build a strong foundation for the future of volleyball in the Verde Valley.
This season wasn’t about wins and losses, it was about creating opportunities for young athletes to discover what they are capable of, learn how to support one another and experience the rewards that come from hard work and commitment. Every practice, every match and every challenge helped these girls grow both on and off the court.
One of the most exciting things to witness is the increasing interest in volleyball throughout the community. The future is bright for girls volleyball in Sedona, and the team hopes even more families and athletes become involved in the years ahead. The more opportunities created today, the stronger the program becomes tomorrow.
There is no greater reward than watching your child grow alongside a group of young athletes who are learning, competing and building confidence together. The scoreboard tells part of the story, but the real victory is seeing these girls believe in themselves, support each other and leave the season stronger than when they started. That is what will continue to grow the game and inspire the next generation of volleyball players in Sedona.
