Cinco de Mayo comes early to Tlaquepaque

The Cinco de Mayo fun comes early this Saturday May 2, from 1 to 4 p.m., with annual celebration taking place across Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village.


The free event transforms Tlaquepaque’s charming courtyards into a lively cultural gathering filled with color, rhythm and authentic expression. Surrounded by sycamore-shaded walkways and distinctive Spanish Colonial architecture, visitors will enjoy an immersive experience as the village comes alive with performances from some of Arizona’s most talented musicians and dancersGuests are invited to indulge in authentic Mexican cuisine throughout the village, with a vibrant lineup of food vendors along Calle Independencia.

Options include fresh salsas and chips from Salsa de Muertos, taquitos and tacos from El Rincon Restaurante and handcrafted tamales from Sedona’s Tamaliza. Dulce will host a tent on Calle Independencia offering Mexican aguas frescas and fruit paletas [traditional Mexican popsicles].


Cinco de Mayo at Tlaquepaque is designed for guests of all ages, with a special focus on interactive experiences for children. Piñata celebrations will begin at 1 p.m. and continue every 45 minutes. Complimentary face painting and arts and crafts activities will be available throughout the afternoon.


A complimentary trolley will circulate between Tlaquepaque and the Uptown municipal parking lot at 220 Schnebly Road from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Roaming mariachis will move throughout the courtyards from noon to 2 p.m., setting a festive tone as guests arrive and explore the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village.
