For Sedona residents who made weight loss their New Year’s resolution, the pounds might come off a little easier considering that there are no plans for the popular In-N-Out Burger chain to open a franchise in Sedona, contrary to social media rumors stemming from low-effort, artificial intelligence-generated fake images, known as “AI slop.”
“Unfortunately, any information regarding plans to open an In-N-Out Burger location in Sedona is not accurate,” Vice President, Store Development for In-N-Out Mike Abbate wrote. “Although we do not currently plan to open a restaurant there, we know it’s a beautiful city!”
Multiple posts circulating on local social media groups from different sources have claimed without evidence that restaurants including In-N-Out Burger and KFC are planning Sedona locations.
“We’ve not received any applications or heard anything that would validate what you’ve been seeing,” city of Sedona Community Development Director Tony Allender said.
Allender noted that while Sedona’s development codes wouldn’t necessarily prevent such franchises from opening, recent trends show new chain restaurants gravitating toward Cottonwood instead.
“Looking at what’s going on in the region, it looks like most franchises are, frankly, looking towards Cottonwood and that general area,” Allender said.
Residents can verify information about proposed developments by contacting the city of Sedona Community Development Department or checking the city’s official website at sedonaaz.gov.
