Kennard “Ken” Baker Bork, 84, formerly of Sedona, died July 27.

Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., he earned a bachelor’s in geology from DePauw University and a doctorate in geology-paleontology from Indiana University and taught geology at Denison University. After retiring in 2003, he served as the secretary general of the International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences, organizing many international meetings and serving on its board.

Moving to Sedona in 2013, he taught classes for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and enjoyed hiking.

He is survived by his wife Kay Bork; sister Susy Meyer; son Rob Bork, daughter-in-law Sally Mills, and grandson Stephen Bork.
