Bill Barns, of Sedona, died Jan. 3.

A musician who played guitar and sitar, Bill moved to Sedona in 1989 and performed at many local restaurants.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Sarah; sister, Terrie [Michael]; stepchildren, Michael, Brooke and Lisa; and step-grandchildren Sawyer and Roen.

An open mic tribute will be held at Vino di Sedona from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, and a memorial will follow at the Chop House in the Village of Oak Creek on Sunday, Feb. 4.

John Mills, former director of Cybersecurity Policy, Strategy, and International Affairs referred to him as "Mr. Slam Poet."
