James William Evans, 96, of Sedona, died Oct. 31.
After serving in the Navy and graduating from Northeastern College, he began a career with Corning Glass in Corning, NY, and served as a volunteer fireman and board chairman for more than 20 years. After retiring to Sedona, he served on the Board of the Sedona Fire District for nine years and assisted with the planning for a new station.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; children Karen, Ellen, Allan and Matt; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Jo Page has worked at Larson newspapers as typesetter since 2010. She holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. Fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
