Everyone into the pool. The Great Pumpkin Splash will return to the Posse Grounds community pool for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m.

“We’re excited to bring it back,” Sedona Parks and Recreation manager Josh Frewin said. “It’s a fun opportunity to get in the pool, swim around, grab a pumpkin and do something different instead of going to the traditional pumpkin patch. It’s a fun afternoon and then right after this event is the Oktoberfest event. So adults especially can come do this and go hang out at Oktoberfest for the evening.”

Attendees will be able to pick their own pumpkin from 300 available options floating in the pool. There will also be a pumpkin painting station set up to provide assistance as well as other games and activities.

“We will have a mini-trunk-or-treat with some of the city departments and the swim clubs are handing out candy, and some fun decor, face painting,” Frewin said.

Tickets are $5 and went on sale on Oct. 2 on the Parks and Recreation website. The event has room for 300 participants and typically sells out.

“We’re going to have pumpkin bowling, scarecrow tossing, and then we’ll have an area set up for people to take pictures with their pumpkins or to take pictures with their family,” Recreation and Aquatics Supervisor Carmen Brashier said. “Then a bunch of [inflatable Halloween decorations] will be set up on the deck. It’s going to be kind of a simple event this year and we’re gonna hopefully build it back up to the big huge event that it was.”

The Halloween fun will continue later this month with Uptown Trick or Treat on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Parks and Recreation Department will be extending the operation of the Splash Pad in Sunset Park daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “through October or until temperatures get chilly.
