Join us for the Oct. 6 Sedona mayoral debate2 min read

We are now only a day away from hosting Larson Newspapers’ first-ever Sedona mayoral debate.

Over the course of 60 minutes we will ask pointed questions of Vice Mayor Scott Jablow and newcomer Samaire Armstrong, who are campaigning to be Sedona’s next mayor, both having defeated the four-time incumbent mayor in the August primary

We sincerely thank the Sedona International Film Festival for offering us the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon theaters for this debate. We would also like to thank the event sponsors: Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art, Mexidona Fine Handcrafted Imports and Crystal Magic.

Knowing the importance of debate to choosing leaders in a republic, the owners of these businesses generously donated funds to help us pay for the technical crew to film and broadcast this debate live, so that voters who cannot attend can see it on Facebook at FB.com/sedonanews.

You do not need a Facebook account to watch the debate.

After the live broadcast, the debate will be available on the Larson Newspapers YouTube page, where voters and viewers can rewatch the events at their leisure and share it on social media as they see fit.

Larson Newspapers General Manager Kyle Larson and I, who will be the co-moderators of the debate, have been formulating our questions over the last few weeks, narrowing them down to the best dozen or so, eight to 10 of which we plan to ask during the event.

If this debate is as successful as we think it will be, we will repeat it during other elections in the years to come. We hope you will all join us either in person or online. Be ready to hear these candidates answer questions about their plans to lead our city.
