This weekend marks the first of its kind Tailgate Paint Out in Sedona. Sedona Arts Center received a generous grant from the AZ Office of Tourism to launch this event and we are all so excited.

Designed to attract seasoned artists who have never painted en plein air, emerging artists, artists who have never painted in Sedona before and some regulars, we will welcome twenty-five artists from around the country June 3 -5 participating in various events and competing for generous award money.

  • On June 3 we invite the public from 4 to 6 p.m. to a Meet and Greet at the Arts Center. You can munch on hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, mix and mingle with the artists, see the studio work they brought along and purchase great art.
  • On Saturday, June 4 is the Tailgate Paint Out from 5 to 8 p.m. in the lower parking lot at the Arts Center. Bring your car, your picnic basket and your tailgating paraphernalia while enjoying the painting festivities in front of you. We will provide wine, beer, water and food – but you can always bring your own as well. Watch the artists compete for $6,500 in prize money while enjoying a different kind of competition.
  • On Sunday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Arts Center will be the Community Paint Out. We invite anyone from the community who wants to paint along to register and compete for BEST Community Artist. The Tailgate artists will also be competing for $850 in prizes and the best Community Painter will win $500. Come show your stuff and be recognized.

Art will be for sale throughout the weekend in the Special Exhibit Gallery at the Arts Center. Sales will end at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Come be a part of this one-of-a-kind event.
