Fire prompts evacuations in Cornville1 min read

An incident information page has been created for the Cornville Fire on InciWeb with current fire and evacuation information. The fire, which began around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, is burning on 1,000 acres of grass, brush, piƱon and juniper close to residential areas. At least one outbuilding has been destroyed and firefighters are protecting others.

Per the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the Mingus Panorama subdivision is in GO status for evacuation. All residents to the east of Page Springs Road near that community have been evacuated. An evacuation center is set up at the Mingus Union High School Gym at 1801 E. Fir Street in Cottonwood.

The fire was estimated to be 1,000 acres as of 5:30 p.m. June 13. Twelve pieces of aircraft are assigned to the fire along with engines and water tender. A hotshot crew has been ordered. According to the incident page, 75 personnel are currently working the fire.

As of 4:45 p.m., Page Springs Road was open to local traffic only. Cornville Road is reportedly open.
