Did you move to the area for this job? If so, where did you move from?

I moved from Tucson to Prescott Valley to be near family.

What drew you to this area or interested you in this position?

Moody touts a master’s degree and doctorate from Northern Arizona University in educational leadership. He was drawn to SRRHS’ small-knit community. David Jolkovski/Larson Newspapers

Knowing [SRRHS Principal Dennis] Dearden from Marana [Unified School District, where Dearden was superintendent] by reputation, I was drawn to SRRHS, wanting to be part of a smaller, closeknit community once I moved up north.

What is your background in education and/ or other professions?

25 years in education [21 in the classroom, four as an administrator/ athletic director] with a master’s degree and doctorate from Northern Arizona University in educational leadership.

How do you feel about starting in-person?

It could not have come soon enough.

How do you feel about wearing a mask all day in the in-person structure?

Masks can be stifling, especially in a lecture or teaching format. However, it is worth it to establish a degree of normalcy and routine, moving beyond our fears.

How were you able to build a classroom community/structure with your students on the first days of online school?

Respect is given and earned. It is something that is slow to be built and must be perpetuated from Day One to Day 188. I build community through a routine and through giving every student the benefit of the doubt that they are there to demonstrate a scholarly attitude and learn. I assume the best until I am proven wrong.
