Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting in Clarkdale1 min read

At approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, an officer-involved shooting occurred inside a home located on the 1400 block of Second South Street in Clarkdale.

Clarkdale Police Officers were dispatched to the home regarding reports of a domestic disturbance. During a confrontation with an adult male, an officer-involved shooting occurred involving a single Clarkdale Police Officer. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. The officer was not injured. A 4-year-old child who was injured prior to the arrival of officers was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. 

According to Sgt. Nicole Florisi, the last officer-involved shooting by Clarkdale Police took place on Feb. 12, 2003. 

Chief Randy Taylor has asked the Department of Public Safety Officer Involved Shooting Team to handle the investigation. 

As per policy, the officer’s name will not be released for at least 48 hours. The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
