Demetrios Fournos, 91, of Sedona, died Feb. 11.
Raised in Coney Island, N.Y., he earned a law degree from St. John’s University and practiced law in New York. His love of food and its preparation led him to train as a chef at Culinary Institute of America. He was the chef and proprietor of Fournos Restaurant in West Sedona from 1981 until his retirement in 2008.
He was preceded in death by Shirley, his wife and business partner.
