It appears the suspect in a trio of burglaries late last year may have attempted to strike again.

According to the Sedona Police Department, on Friday, Feb. 7 between 1:15 and 2:30 a.m., a male subject outside the Bloom Dispensary at 465 Jordan Road attempted to gain entry into the building through multiple windows on the north end. Several exterior screens were bent in the process of the subject prying them open, and one window was broken.

On video the subject was seen standing up the extension ladder from the side of the building and spending approximately 20 minutes on the roof. The screen was taken completely off the window that accessed the bathroom and a small corner of the window glass was broken and set on the ground.

The alarm was set off when the glass broke, and the suspect fled on foot.

“It appears to be the same subject,” Sgt. Michael Dominguez said, referring to the three prior successful burglaries of the marijuana dispensary.

The suspect in Friday’s attempted burglary was wearing a bluish/gray hoodie with no logos, tan pants, light-colored shoes and had a bandana covering his face. He was also carrying a backpack.

Once someone from the business arrived on scene, SPD’s K9, Max, was used to conduct a search of the inside of the building to confirm no one was inside.

Over a five-week period at the end of the year, Bloom saw a series of break-ins in which an undisclosed amount of medical marijuana was stolen.

“They all occurred at night or very early in the morning,” Dominguez said last month. “We’re relatively confident that it’s the same individual or individuals …. From the first one to the last it’s been the same — they smash the front door and then go in, taking the product, and then leaving.

“Having one business targeted three times in a five-week period is significant — especially for our community. It’s also a concern that they’ve been brazen enough to break into the same place and feeling comfortable enough to do so.”

The three prior burglaries took place on Nov. 15 at 5:50 a.m., Dec. 4 at 4:18 a.m. and Dec. 24 at 7:05 a.m. From video on those three days, the suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years of age, approximately 5 foot 10 inches to 6 foot 2 inches and weighing 140 to 180 pounds. He’s thought to have short-brown hair.

The suspect faces burglary charges and could also face possession of marijuana charges, Dominguez said. Depending upon the amount in their possession, and if they are reselling it, the burglar or burglars could face trafficking charges and trafficking of stolen goods, all of which are felonies.

If anyone has information regarding the identity of the subject involved, contact the Sedona Police Department at 282-3100 or contact Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232 in Yavapai County or 774-6111 in Coconino County.
