The batting cage at the upper field of Posse Grounds Park will be slimming down during its rebuild, which has yet to be scheduled.

The roof of the cages collapsed on Christmas evening due to the weight of the snowfall on Dec. 23 and 24.

The cage originally measured 16 feet wide, 100 feet long and 10 feet high, and now will be three to four feet skinnier than before. The total cost of the reconstruction will be $7,900, according to Parks and Recreation Manager Rachel Murdoch.

Yavapai Fence was contracted to do the rebuild, and the goal of the Parks and Recreation department is to have it completed by the start of Little League in March.
