The Humane Society of Sedona is seeking a replacement for departing Executive Director Suzanne Fuqua, according to a job listing posted on the Humane Society of the United States website April 24.
On Friday, May 1, an email went out to HSS members, thanking Fuqua for her service to the organization, which includes a save rate of 96 percent and a successful effort to guarantee that every animal has a microchip implanted before adoption. The email also served as an announcement of her departure.
“Suzanne Fuqua has worked tirelessly to continue saving countless lives and creating change in our collective fight to end the epidemic of the senseless killing of homeless animals in our nation’s shelter systems,” the email stated.
“Suzanne will be leaving the shelter to pursue other endeavors as of July 31 and she will be greatly missed. We wish her well on her journey to continue speaking for those who have no voice.”
