For people over 40, “I am not a doctor, but I play one on TV” is a line burned into the collective consciousness — yet few residents of Sedona realize the man who made it quote-worthy lives next door.
Chris Robinson, most famous for portraying Rick Webber in the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital from 1978 to 1986, has lived in Sedona for decades. He raised five sons here, departing only occasionally for extended roles in high-profile television and film projects.
Married since 2011, he and his wife maintain two vacation rentals along Oak Creek.
Since 2005, he has taken fewer acting roles, but a recent film from a Flagstaff filmmaker has brought him into regional focus.
“When Chris was on set, he was the most finessed actor I’ve ever worked with,” said Travis Hamilton, director of “Legends From the Sky.” “The actors’ performances were elevated when he was on set …. I’m a better director after working with him.”
According to Hamilton, Robinson did not balk at the minimal wage Hamilton’s fifth feature-film budget allowed.
“I’m not doing it for the money,” Robinson was quoted as saying. “I love acting.”
