Trivago site ranks Sedona No. 11 min read

The city of sedona was ranked first in an online travel magazine.

David Letterman may not have invented the Top 10 list but he did make it famous. Today, there are lists for just about anything, with one of the most popular dealing with tourist destinations.

Last week, the travel search site trivago.com released its list of best ranked cities for quality hotels with Sedona coming out on top.

“I was surprised because often our small, little town tends to be forgotten about,” said Steve Segner, president of the Sedona Lodging Council. “So anytime we can show up on a national ranking, that’s a good thing.”

As to why he feels Sedona topped the ranking he said, “The expectations of people coming to Sedona are met. Most are owner-operated hotels who understand their clientele.”

Segner, who praised the work of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, added that he feels lists like Trivago play a major part in the minds of people when deciding where to vacation.

“Any time Sedona is mentioned, it brings us to top of mind,” he said. “It’s very important to keep our name out there. Since rankings are so popular on the Internet these days, that’s one way of doing it.”

Trivago spokeswoman Samantha Fanelli said the site used millions of online guest reviews while analyzing hotels across the country to determine the 50 cities with the highest quality accommodation in the nation.
