Courtyard by Marriott’s slogan is simple — “It’s a New Day.”

Now, a developer is hoping that Sedona will some day soon be the worldwide chain’s newest location.

During its Thursday, May 29, meeting, the Sedona Planning and Zoning Commission heard a conceptual development review brought forward by Mesa-based Sedona Hospitality Group.

The proposed hotel would be located on the south side of State Route 89A between Park Place and Sedona Red Rock High School.

The parcel, which is vacant, is approximately 8.16 acres, and has a split zoning of both commercial and residential. The applicant is requesting it be rezoned as lodging.
