The Sedona Police Department released the names of the three people killed in an airplane accident in Sedona on Sunday, April 15, at approximately 12 noon.

James B. Franklin, 67, and Mary M. Franklin, 62, both of Tucson, and their niece, Alexandra Greene Micsunescu, 28, of Sacramento, Calif., died when a Beechcraft 35-B33 single-engine aircraft they were aboard crashed into the north side of Airport Mesa.

They left LaCholla Airpark in Tucson on Sunday morning and the group planned to meet family in Sedona on Sunday afternoon, according to SPD.

While attempting to land, the airplane fell short of the runway and crashed into the north side of the mesa.

James B. Franklin owned the airplane and had been a licensed Federal Aviation Administration commercial single-engine airplane pilot for over 40 years, according to FAA spokesman Mike Fergus. Franklin also had a mechanics certificate from FAA.
