Three guitarists play Hideaway Print E-mail

POSTED: Friday April 25, 2008 14:14

A trio of guitarists will take to the stage Saturday, April 26, at Hideaway restaurant, 251 Hwy. 179, Sedona.

While Kim DeLacy is a local guitarist planning to expand her horizons with upcoming national tours and Jake Payne is a beloved local folk guitarist whose fans find themselves bewitched by his talents, Alaska guitarist Matt Hopper brings the flip side, with the outside views of a touring musician to the red rocks of Sedona.

      Kim DeLacy

Of the scores of musicians who play and perform in Sedona and the Verde Valley, Kim DeLacy is one of the few who can claim to have been raised as a musician here.

DeLacy released her first album “The Kim Show,” in 2002, with a gig at the 700-seat Orpheum Theatre, in Flagstaff.

A more mature and crafted release “Crescendos & Cadences,” came in late 2006. It diffused some of the harsher elements of her first album into a more polished, professional sound.

“Crescendos & Cadences” more closely revealed the artist sometimes still hidden beneath a prickly but playful exterior.

She has referred to Sedona as “a great creation station.”

      Jake Payne

Born in the southern desert of Arizona, Jake Payne has called Sedona his home since he moved to the city in 2004.

For many of the local folk rock concerts in recent months, Payne has formed the keystone piece, uniting the heavier rock elements of some musicians with the more heartfelt sincerity of others.

As one of the scene’s most  generous voices, Payne recently celebrated his wedding with a concert just days before the ceremony. The April 26 show will be Payne’s first concert as married musician.

      Matt Hopper

Alaska guitarist Matt Hopper has played more than 500 shows in the last four years, driving himself across the country, playing gigs wherever he can, and sleeping on friends’ couches.

He most recently toured through Sedona on Jan. 26, playing a packed show

Over the years, Hopper has gained a growing army of loyal fans scattered across the continent who are eager to spread the word about the heartfelt intimacy and timeless appeal of his songs, the release stated.
