The Sedona School Mountain Bike Club competed in its second race of the season at Pioneer Park in Prescott on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Big Park Community School sixth-grader Benjamin Wishnewsky secured the Team’s highest ever placing in its five year history, claiming seventh place in his two-lap race.

The No. 11-ranked Sedona Red Rock High School volleyball team opened Central Region play on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Paradise Honors High School, winning 3-1 [24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21].

The Scorpions [8-1 in power-point matches, 2-0 Central Region] play in one of the tougher regions in Conference 2A, with two opponents ranked in the top 10, as of Thursday, Sept. 28, in the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s rankings.

Sedona Red Rock High School’s swimming team has an annual tradition that is somewhat out of the ordinary.

It had its annual 24-hour relay on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Sedona Community Pool. Every member of the team, including head coach A. Jay Bronson, took turns swimming for an entire day.

The new club swimming season is underway, and one local team is off to a good start.

The Verde Valley High Performance swim team competed at the Welcome to Fall meet at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, turning in a good performance.

Football, volleyball, basketball or track and field; those are the sports most think of when it comes to prep athletics. In Sedona there is one other that many may not have heard of.

In its fifth year, the Sedona School Mountain Biking Club has grown to eight members, the largest it has ever been. Given the sport’s popularity in the area, its existence should not come as a much of a surprise.
