Unlike the last meet on June 28 where the Sedona Swim Team dominated
the competition because of sheer numbers, only 18 swimmers made the
trip to Kingman.
With all the crazy sports, sporting events or contests out there in
this world, Crazy Cosmic Golf on Friday nights at Los Abrigados Resort
& Spa can definitely be placed within the “weird” category.
The dark spin on mini-golf ranks up there in the “weird” category
with the Polar Bear Club; professional hot dog eating contests; hog
calling; milk chugging; caber tosses; and, of course, running with the
bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
On Monday, July 7, Sedona Red Rock High Athletic Director John Parks
and Pinnacle One Project Manager Dave Young announced the re-opening of
the newly completed football field and track project to the public.
“We are excited to inform the public that our refurbished football
field and track project is now complete and open for use,” Parks said.
The finished $1.6 million product at SRRHS is only one part of a
three-phase project using the $73.4 million bond fund approved last
year by voters within the Sedona Oakcreek School District.
Kyle Kirsch, a 2005 graduate of Sedona Red Rock High, continued to
live the dream as his University of Arizona club baseball team fought
their way to the National Club Baseball World Series in Fort Myers,
Fla., from May 23 through May 29.
Kirsch, a third baseman on the team, was one of the founding players on the Wildcats inaugural club baseball team.
“For us to get to the World Series in our first season was incredible,” Kirsch said.
The more often they swim, the better and better they get.
That’s what Sedona Swim team head coach Erin Estes said about her
team after they dominated another meet, this time a dual competition
against Kingman on Saturday, June 28.
“This meet worked in favor of our kids because we had many in the
pool besides just our top swimmers. Having everyone puts us way over
the top,” Estes said.
Sedona took the victory by scoring 2,916 points compared to Kingman’s 1,728 points.
