I’m recently home in Sedona from a long business and pleasure trip throughout California and Las Vegas. Only by coincidence did I see the walk of fame celebrity stars imbedded in the sidewalk outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, driving to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel across the street, for an appointment.

I had never been to Las Vegas, and felt called to start there, which would enable me to break up an 8 hour drive to LA, into two four-hour stints.

What a Welcome to Las Vegas. It was just nighttime, and as I turned onto ‘the strip’ the voice of Andrea Bocelli thrilled me, with my first sight the Bellagio’s water show. I pulled over, enjoyed, then drove up and down the strip in awe and loved it.

I had a spiritual appointment in the morning, then next to celebrity hair colorist Michael Boychuck at his salon in Caesar’s Palace. Before leaving I was given hair coloring recommendation, and got a couple of hair products. Later I spent hours in The Venetian, enjoying the fresco paintings in the style of the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling, and having an outdoor gondola ride being sung to by my gondolier. The light show over the façades of replicated famous Venetian buildings was gorgeous and musically moving.

Once in LA, first thing in the morning I met with celebrity hair colorist Michael Canale (creator of Jennifer Aniston’s famous hairstyle, ‘the Rachel’ from TV’s “Friends”) who, along with his client, bought many Young Living medicine-grade essential oils from me. I also met with famous hairstylists Joseph Kendall and Martin Fassnidge, of Joseph Martin on Rodeo Drive. I gave everyone my brand of positive spiritual insight.

I was treated to the Hollywood Bowl for the 100th anniversary of Paramount Pictures with the HB orchestra led by David Newman, and we had good seats. Comedian and six time emmy award winner Bruce Vilanch walked by, and in front of us was a famous Hollywood couple whose names we couldn’t remember. Jason Alexander was our moderator and Lalo Schifrin spoke after we watched some of Mission Impossible backed by his dramatic theme song.

I ate often at the well-known Nate & Al’s Delicatessen in Beverly Hills. Each time I was surrounded by movie, TV and music industry people, but the only name I know, is Jada Pinkett Smith.

Malibu was beautiful, as were the beaches of Redondo, Manhattan, Hermosa and Rancho Palos Verdes where I sat in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wayfarer’s Chapel overlooking the Pacific. In Encinitas I spent time at Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self Realization Fellowship Temple’s meditation gardens, right on the Pacific. I gave spiritual counsel in beautiful Carlsbad.

Told to not miss The Grove, divine timing had me arrive just in time to be in the camera range for TV’s “Extra” host Maria Menounos to interview the cast of the new show, “The New Normal.” Did you see me on TV?

I saw the hilarious musical from NYC, ‘Silence, the Musical’, based on Silence of the Lambs, and met my friend’s son, Nate Patten, the musical director/conductor. Seeing his mom and her sister for the first time since I was 10, was a thrill for me.

The best I save for last, and it was perhaps the most entrancing, soul-lifting spiritual experience I have ever had in a metaphysical setting. I was taken to Agape in Culver City, led by the famous spiritual icon, Michael Beckwith. He’s in the movie, The Secret, and I had seen him on Oprah years ago. We sat through the meditation service before more people streamed in, and we had good seats. It was beautifully decorated and backlit in light turquoise and green; artwork donning walls.

The building was somewhat dimly lit for relaxation and music began with incredible solo singers backed by a great band on the stage; one singer after another and we all were clapping and singing along sometimes, seeing the words on movie screens showing the person performing. Not songs that are slow and repetitive, that can drone on, but jazzy soul music that is not outside of many’s comfort zones. Music that stimulated our feelings of elevated bliss more and more.

By the time Michael Beckwith went into his passionate and rousing spiritual service we were already raised within, having had plenty of time singing of God’s gifts, listening to great singers, and connecting with each other. There wasn’t mention of any individual religious icon, as in whom to worship above any other; simply the unifying feeling of the greatness of the one God presence which is within everyone.

If I can translate, it would be to say that instead of seeing only cause and effect from what most believe is reality…i.e. problems, to start with content, instead. Content being identifying what we have within and around us; the beauty, art, graciousness, perfect flow and movement, connection with divine timing, gratitude, generosity, abundance, love, respect, integrity, peace, creativity, miraculous experience, joy and more that is God. That is our content. And when we create cause from that truth; that content, effect is miraculous, loving, creative, peaceful, joyous, etc. Personally I cherish living that way, and desire that for all of us to know and live from.

Straight from Agape, a farewell lunch with my cousin, then back to Vegas. I received the thrill of the full Caesar’s Palace experience, had several spiritual appointments, and received the supreme iconic gift of pumping gas next to an Elvis impersonator on my way to dinner with a friend. Every person I spent time with on my journey, was lovely lovely lovely. Then it was time to drive Miss Daisy Rachel back home to famous Sedona.

I remember the first kiss with my most significant boyfriend. In my mind I told myself to pay close attention to every split second because those moments moving in to the kiss were so precious and meaningful to me.

When a beloved family member or friend does something incredible out of left field to raise you higher, or tells you how much you mean to them, or you find a long lost relative who is wonderful and on your wavelength, or make a new good friend you can count on, we can run the gamut between feeling joy to sobbing in happiness.

When you hold a baby, especially if it is yours, or part of your own family, there comes a feeling that is indescribable. As they grow, the sense of belonging together is inexplicably satisfying. Even gazing at a newborn brings a feeling of awe and being closer to the exquisite loving mystery that is God.

Hearing a piece of music that uniquely speaks to you, or brings back a powerful memory can evoke a heart swell and even tears. Or music can simply make your heart be excited and allow you to let your inner thrill thrive.

The first time I pulled onto the ‘strip’ in Las Vegas from Flamingo, in an instant, there was the water show of the Bellagio with the sounds of Andrea Bocelli causing my heart to swell. I moved over one lane to the curb and stopped, allowing myself to be swept away. Then, the immense size of each of the resorts left me with eyes and eyebrows in awe, uttering into my iphone video, It.. is.. AWEsome! IIIIIII’m LOVin’this!

Three nights later I was invited to the Hollywood Bowl for the 100th anniversary of Paramount Pictures, and the Hollywood Bowl orchestra led by conductor David Newman. You can’t ignore the passion that takes you for a ride in the Mission Impossible movie theme song. In fact every movie’s score took over my emotions (as did the film scenes). I was also caught up in watching the conductor’s precise movements of leading crescendos, or focusing only on varying parts of the orchestra, then full on within his passionate heart and body movements.

Sitting in Frank Lloyd Wright’s spiritual Wayfarer’s Chapel two days later in Rancho Palos Verdes overlooking the gorgeous Pacific from above, was heart soothing; just as wonderful for the soul as heart swelling.

It’s nice to ‘get away’ and see new heart swelling scenery and heart soothing sights, hear new sounds, make new, and rekindle old, acquaintance. Sedona is certainly a home sweet home to return to. In fact, that’s why so many visit us from all over the world; for heart soothing. Seeing our landscape everyday keeps me in a perpetual heart swell.

Certain things are priceless, and other things are relative in value. Starting with your self esteem don’t underestimate yourself, and remember to be gentle, encouraging, humbly self-praising, and keep growing while you stay a kid at heart.  Remember to be as thoughtful to others as you can be to yourself.

Some people may spend and spend on treatments to repair broken bones, broken hearts or souls. While one person may use traditional treatment, the other may use non-traditional. Who is to judge? And there are differing prices in every arena. It all comes to, what is it worth to You?

When you feel you have found the healer that enriches your heart, soul and/or physical self, there may be no need to look further. However, if your emotional or physical issues linger, first ask, am I following through with the advice given. If you have, might I suggest you follow your intuition and try someone new; they may have more revealing and healing words and tools that are just what ‘the doctor ordered.’

Everything is made of energy, and the word ‘disease’ describes when your body or mind are not at ease; hence dis-ease, i.e. out of balance energetically. It has been scientifically discovered and proven that physical ailments are a result of emotional issues as yet unresolved. Eventually the unhealthy emotional pockets move from your personal energetic field that surrounds your physical body, called an aura, and poke through to the body.

We can keep that from happening, and reverse effects as well! And speaking of well, when was the last time you had an emotional tune-up, so to say? Talking things over with caring friends or family is one good way. Consulting a professional intuitive and or astrologer, who is able to see more deeply into every part of your life, is preventative maintenance, enabling you to keep your life energy balanced, peaceful and joyful. Be certain the person you consult is also compassionate, loving and empowering.

You can spend your valuable personal wealth on over-the-counter or prescription drugs, drink yourself out of balance, lose sleep, or smoke to mask stresses. You can spend your valuable time in distress, confusion, anger, misery, pain and either be spending too much of your energy, or feeling low energy. When you look closely, the costs add up, and sometimes we forget what they total, is huge, even before reaching last-resort costs like lab films, and take risks of anesthesia and surgery.

They say you get what you pay for and sometimes that’s true, isn’t it? So what are you worth to yourself? Is it worth prescriptions that these days we know many have disastrous physical or suicidal side effects; the dark hidden costs. Open your heart and mind to the value of positive, empowering, insightful, intuitive, spiritual, energetic, emotional and physical guidance and healing, which is very often near-immediate in many instances. A true healer is spiritually tuned in to your unique, personal energetic self and needs.

Hippocrates said, “A physician without a knowledge of astrology has no right to call himself a physician...and C.G. Jung, “I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth...I must say that I have very often found that the astrological data elucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand.”

Here’s to your health! You are worth it!

The Stars must be aligned. You’ve heard that phrase or perhaps said it yourself, when something wonderful happened. There’s truth behind the old saying. Heavenly bodies affect everything. Let me help you count the ways that this is true in our lives.

Example one: A friend of mine was experiencing the day and hour of having to say goodbye to her daughter who was leaving home for the first time, ready to drive with her boyfriend 8 hours to begin college life. It was a sad time for my friend and an intense time and new adventure of the unknown for her daughter.

She phoned me distraught that her daughter and she had been bickering. Her child insisted on taking a nap, and my friend was upset daughter was going to get on the highway at a later time of day than mother would have liked, and also upset dealing with separation blues. I looked at my pocket ephemeris; the book of daily planetary motions, and saw the likely reason.

I explained that the Moon, which effects our emotions, was in the sign of Scorpio, which is about endings and new beginnings, mysteries into the unknown, as well as representing deep bonds we have with people, and deep emotions that we tend to bury. These are just a few characteristics, but if used in a negative way, we can be paranoid of things going wrong. They were both dealing with the loosening of intimate bonds, an ending, and sleep might have been a way of dealing with deep emotions her loving child was feeling.

The good news was that in a couple of hours the Moon would be entering Sagittarius, and I gave her the exact time. I let her know that the mood would change and the air would be light and happy, laughing and optimistic, as well as also having the traits ruling long distance travel, blessings and good luck, the excitement of adventure, plus higher education. How appropriate was that, and waking from sleep would be refreshing. I also pointed out that there was still a tremendous amount of daylight and even if they got on the road a couple of hours later, their drive and arrival would all be well lit by the Sun.

She phoned me later that that’s exactly what happened. Daughter awoke when the Moon was in Sag and all was happy, loving and positive. They both felt much better, and all went perfectly well.

Example two: Someone also very dear to me had Pluto enter her fourth house. Pluto rules Scorpio, so also brings powerfully transformative beginnings, and the fourth house rules home and residence. The very day Pluto moved in, she moved into the home of her dreams.

Example three: Saturn, the planet of limitations, restrictions and lessons to learn by hard work, entered her second house of earned income, about mid 2009, to stay for 2 ½ years. Sure enough, having been laid off right about then, she worked very hard and re-arranged her entire life to create a way to make income. Though it never rose to her past income, she looks forward to this coming Oct. 6 when Saturn departs, having taught her well, and the doors of earned income open wide once again, when the sky’s the limit.

So remember, the Sun will always come out. Might be within the hour, might be tomorrow. In fact it’s always there, perhaps behind a cloud that brings rain we need for growth. Ultimately the stars are always aligned in our favor; even when there are seeming cloudier times. Go with the flow, get plenty of rest and encouragement. Take classes, and learn about yourself. That’s what it’s all about. Do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. Here comes the Sun.

Do you know someone whom you would declare lives in la la land? Does that mean they’re dreamers? Do Los Angeles or Hollywood come to mind when I say LA LA land? Certainly one must be a dreamer to move there. That’s the land of TV and movie film, music and fashion. Fantasy come alive. Red carpet celebrity.

It takes a dreamer to be creative, and a dreamer to follow their dreams. Visionary artists, writers, musicians and actors are drawn there. La la support people such as the agents; hair, makeup and costuming icons; scenery, camera, lighting experts and more, want to live the la la fantasy, and are drawn to the la la land. Even the ones who are the backbone of reality as in studio heads, financial backers, executive producers, etc. want to be part of la la.

When I watch film or hear music I fantasize, so I’m in la la land. I like TV’s real estate shows, especially about the million dollar homes, and dream of having an indoor Jacuzzi bathtub again, and a big celebrity-type wardrobe closet. Sedona is a la la land and I love it here. My dream views are its plentitude of breathtaking and inspiring red rock formations, and the magnificence of water.

I have always liked fashion, beauty, glamour and entertainment. I became an entertainer, and loved the glitz and excitement that went with it. I haven’t sung on stage in a while but appreciate and savor more the spotlight on my positive and empowering spirituality on TV, radio, magazines, and here in Sedona’s newspaper.

When I sit down to write each week’s column, I have to go into la la land to hopefully hear a creative idea to write about. Generally I start with absolutely nothing and look outwardly for inspiration, but nothing comes. I sit quietly without mind clutter then, and it’s always a random thought that catches on fire and whala, I keep listening and often just type away, as if I’m being told what to write, word after word. That’s la la for sure. I am also in that quiet open space receiving, when I give a Reading for someone, or hearing discernment for myself.

For those who say, get a grip on reality, I say, admit it, you love to take trips to la la land. In fact, dreaming of being a Fortune 500 business person, in real estate or a retail store owner, utilized your inner la la. You dreamt of being accepted to the best school or getting that loan, and have your business just the way you imagined, and la la’d that you’d have a thriving career so you could buy what you always la la’d for…perhaps a home with a view and the best toys. So when you feel you’re working too hard, remember to have some la la. In fact your inner la la is where peace, bliss and fulfillment reside waiting for you to take residence and be at home.

We do require a nice balance of physical reality and la la. After all, you want to ground your dreams. Use common sense to realize if you’re too close to the edge of the sky, far far away; and if you’re using drugs or alcohol, come back to earth. You’ve got all that it takes within yourself, having been created by the ultimate creative Creator, without having to give up yourself. So fantasize away, be the star of your show and work it, work it, work it.

Here’s your key. Here’s your director. Meet you in la la land.

Life is like a stream Merrily, Merrily rolling along. Then sometimes there is a stumbling block from a pebble to large magnitude boulders. We can meet what’s in the stream in varying ways. Go around, up and over, carve a way through, or wait for a thrust of more water to help us make it to the other side. Ultimately we begin streaming live again. Even passing on passes us to a blessed new beginning; living after living, life after life, life before life --since the life of our energy is eternal.

After we get to the other side of an issue in our stream, isn’t it true that everything smells sweeter again, tastes better, is more energized, and just all around feels enhanced? No matter what size happens, relax in the knowing that there is always relief and re-enlivenment.

Some impediments can be overcome by thought alone. What if we savored everything and everyone Now as gifts that not everyone gets? Plus understand that there is a helpful reason for every stone in the way, and grow because of it. Would rocks in the stream seem less like boulders if we didn’t need to be reminded of these things? Our Bible says it shall be done unto you according to your faith. To what degree do you believe there is goodness, and positives available? It also says in the beginning was the word. What are you verbalizing and do you realize the energy of thought and words is creative?

How fully are we living? Sometimes we feel blah. If we don’t give ourselves enough me time, chill time or exciting time, blah may come and grab us so we are inclined to take a step back, stop and ask, do we do that for ourselves enough? Bored? Go somewhere to re-enliven, whether outdoors somewhere, be with a friend, or to a place with the level of excitement you need. Overworked? Change that habit.

Unhappy or ill? Count your blessings, and acknowledge as you take care of yourself, that that is loving yourself, and so is allowing others to care too, helping thrust you to the other side where blessings await. Of course, not everything is changed instantly with a magic wand but minds have more power than a wand. Music has that power also. Get your I/me tunes that enliven our soul with passion and joy.

Do you live in fear of the end of life? Truth is, our transition from life stalks every one that has a birth, from our first breath. Plenty of cultures revere that next journey, preparing throughout their existence in joyful anticipation by growing their higher consciousness. Remember the mystery of birth? There had to be an ending of something, to be born into a different energy pattern. I and countless others believe we have meet up groups at the next birth/life after life.

Though I feel closely loved and communicated with by my loved ones in spirit, I look forward to the next time we will meet up. I think of it as their being on a vacation right now. But for ourselves, Now, once we properly lament, let’s live fully and grab the gifts of what’s here for us in the physical plane. After all, we won in the competition of millions of sperm to be here now. We evoke the sweetness by living in a state of mind that allows for the loving voice in spirit, enlightened understanding, tranquility, joy and bliss.

How can we do that with all the challenges we are faced with? Many suggest viewing experiences that provoke us, as an observer from our quiet spirit within. Practice with the Small stings, such as someone saying or doing a thing that raises our blood pressure and the hair on our neck. Rather than lower yourself into that energy, mentally step back as an observer, asking do I wish to energize the negativity of the problem or let it move on and keep my peace right Now? Eventually the blood pressure won’t rise.

Like graduating from grade to grade in school, with practice we evolve how we react to sticks and stones and big rocks. We are meant to ultimately see things from a higher understanding so that as educated people we know the answers, by the quizzes and tests we received leading up to now.

Today you get an A+ and E for excellent effort.
