Do we live most of our time in illusion? Let’s check it out. We begin and end each day in sleeping dreams, somewhat aware of the illusions floating in our consciousness. Do we spend as much time talking about the mystery of our sleep and dreams as we do about the habits of the TV ‘housewives’? The wonderous fact that when our body gets weak and tired, we have no choice but to surrender ourselves and lay it down, giving up control…asks the question, do we have an illusion that we think we are in control of ourselves 24/7?

Time is an illusion. Have you ever experienced a lengthy situation that seemed like a short time, or a brief time that seemed to last forever? When we meet a new person that we feel we would like to know better in a meaningful way, don’t we begin having illusions about what a potential future together might look like, and expect it to happen right away?

What about having the illusion of expecting things being done unto you as you were raised. How we were raised is likely different than someone else, causing differences in behavior, bringing about, perhaps, an illusion of expecting what we would deem appropriate actions, thereby causing our own dismay realizing we were living in a personal illusion. We can wake up.

Lest we not forget the illusions brought about by consumption of alcohol, drugs, pot, cigarettes, etc. I say cigarettes because I remember when I smoked there were smoke screens in my mind, and I couldn’t think clearly how to solve issues in my life. Once I successfully tackled that addiction, my mind immediately became sharp and I rapidly set about bettering my circumstances.

When we think about mass killings, even solitary killings, and dig to get to the core impulses, we uncover some facts. Gun control always comes up, yet ponder another. We find we are looking at mental illness and delusions, yet we are usually also looking at the effects of prescribed mind-altering drugs. We feel we must look into a person’s home and childhood environment. How many love children so protectively that we might choose our own illusion of delusion over facing disturbing warning signs? It’s a rare parent that is a psychologist or psychiatrist, and even if we were, might we still be in denial about our own precious offspring?

Many, if not most, do the best they can for their children, with what they know. Parenting can easily be called the most challenging job on the planet. We carry forward deep generations of behavior. Who gets holistically re-trained? Who seeks training? Dare we guess how many parents have their own unresolved emotional issues?

Those that take their children to professional counselors often leave the office with powerful mind-altering medication to dull the child or potentially make them happy; with ‘happy’ pills. How much actual time and talk goes on in the home, helping kids through their issues before they reach a critical point? How much talk therapy takes place anymore in the professional counseling setting? It seems so many psychiatrists are only in the industry of prescribing anymore, and have we done our homework before giving the almighty power to doctors who have a practice; thereby are practicing, before ingesting psychotropic mind-altering pills like candy? Google it and read, ‘It's important to note that psychotropic medications don't cure mental disorders. Prescribing psychotropic medications such as antidepressants, is controversial because they have also been associated with causing aggressive behavior or suicidal thoughts.’ Mental illness needs more attention, and an organic approach, and the Bible gives us a clue, as in, ‘physician heal thyself.’ There are natural methods that offer undeniable remedy and long-term results.

Dare I ask us all to look at the pharmaceutical companies rewarding physicians for giving out their samples and pills for popping like gumdrops? Dare I remind you of what we’ve been shown about the government’s monetary funding from these companies, keeping a crackdown from taking place, as well as new and better medications being able to surface because the companies just change an ingredient to keep their (what I call harmful) products current, and from making way for the new others waiting in line? Are we in a delusional stupor listening to their TV commercials actually telling us about the serious dangers of the drug they want us to ask our doctor for? These days schools are allowed to recommend a child be put on medication or they ban them from the school.

In England, just a decade or so ago, benzodiazapenes became outlawed, unless given in hospital settings and only for a maximum of three weeks. Don’t know what benzos are? Google xanax, valium, klonopin…read for yourself how they eventually adversely change a person’s thoughts and behaviors. Read how many die trying to get off the drugs and others who say it is easier to just stay on them, a choice of hells. There are support groups for the masses who live this way. For the sake of fully lifting the veil of illusion, also look at SSRIs. Do you know what they are? An exorbitant number of humans take them happily. Antidepressants; Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.

At this point I recommend the website www.drugawareness.org to learn about the real dangers of these prescription drugs and their indisputable connection with mass and single murders in the headlines. Let’s not overlook with delusional illusion the facts of how they effect us all in some way, even if it is soul wounded mourning for others’ situations. If you look into The International Coalition for Drug Awareness headed and staffed with directors globally that are medical doctors and Ph.D’s, you will learn about the links to these drugs in almost every case of these murders.

With the end of the Mayan calendar purported to be within a day or two, let’s refer to one of the literal meanings of Maya from Wikipedia. In Indian religions it is “usually quoted as ‘illusion,’ centered on the fact that we do not experience the environment itself but rather a projection of it, created by us. Māyā is the principal deity that manifests, perpetuates and governs the illusion and dream of duality in the phenomenal Universe… Each person, each physical object, from the perspective of eternity, is like a brief, disturbed drop of water from an unbounded ocean. The goal of enlightenment is to understand this—more precisely, to experience this: to see that the distinction between the self and the Universe is a false dichotomy. The distinction between consciousness and physical matter, between mind and body is the result of an unenlightened perspective.”

Apocalypse literally means lifting the veil. The Maya calendars counted time as related to changes in consciousness. It is simply time to begin a new calendar, counting time in an awakened, aware, enlightened state of mind.  Happy Awareness.  Peace on earth, good will toward all!

No man is an island, they say, and I’d have to agree. As in most things, balance is a good way to deal and feel. On one hand it’s important to have a strong sense of self, having healthy boundaries based on what is comfortable to you. Some people have few boundaries and may find others sleeping on their sofa, eating their food, forgetting to lock the door, bringing their friends over without asking, for cigarettes, wine and who knows what, staining your furniture and carpet.

Yet on the other extreme some people rarely have people over to their home, or go out to socialize. They may be stuck to their computer and/or television screen. Their relationships are not intimate, but fantasy as if they know a person through typed words. We may deem them a hermit. Even if they have a job, they may be in the cubicle in the back corner, or give a weak shy smile hello as they pass people in the hall.

Without being extreme, which side are you on? Do you lean to sometimes being taken advantage of or feel horror at being alone, at least requiring constant phone or text connection?  Or on the other hand, do you feel it is time to take a baby step toward having social communication in person and find people that are easy to be with that you can learn to trust and share conversation with?

Which kind of person do you believe is most out of touch with who they are? Our first goal is to know thyself. Honor thyself. Ask yourself some questions? What is my favorite color, favorite food, favorite sport or hobby; and what are my beliefs about my past? If the last question raises guilt, shame or sadness, let’s start there, putting it in the past, and not allowing it to define who you are now and in the next moment/s/future. Our current actions will build a new past to recollect. What will that be?

Let’s not compare ourselves to others, but to our self. How am I doing Today compared to yesterday? Forgive yourself and others’ weaknesses and mistakes. Understand it’s the guilts, shames and sadnesses that elicit actions and responses which aren’t healthy, so realizing that now, we can know better and do better, including forgiveness right now. Our job is to heal our self whether or not someone else is healed. Recognize if there is a connection to those judgment thoughts with how you set your boundaries, or have none.

My thoughts and actions are my own; I own them. They either make us sick or make us well. We can enjoy life and ourselves without defining enjoyment based on others. That can open us up to enjoying our own company, not needing to take in anyone without having defined the type of character  traits you require in your company. That can also open us up to getting out of our solitary comfort zone, and trust, little by little, that getting to know people whose traits seem to be pleasant, will be comfortable to experience first acquaintance.

Make an affirmation or mantra, like:  I approve of myself and allow good people into my life. I love and respect myself right now, and am willing to share life with people of similar positive feelings. Watch and see, because positive self thoughts and outward words are creative. Negative thoughts will come along, but you don’t have to invite them for dinner and conversation any longer. Replace the thoughts with your positive self talk and watch your person to person experiences blossom in a comfortable way.

Happy holy days.

There have been, and still are, countless conversations, articles, emails, twitter and facebook posts with links; videos, television and radio broadcasts, gatherings to attend, both local and around the world; you name it…humankind has been circulating data about these upcoming days of December for years, and more as the days grow so near now, we can count them on our fingers and toes

An overload of ideas can be overwhelming to the nervous system, especially since Jupiter went into Gemini on June 11 of this year. Jupiter is the planet of knowledge, expansion and abundance, which went into Gemini, the sign of nonstop information and communication (and as Gemini is the twins, looking at both sides!). That abundance of information can sometimes be confusing, and/ or superficial gossip being passed on without verification. What looks proven, even historical or traditional, other experts can prove as inaccurate. What is true? Gemini also rules the lungs, so breathe. With Jupiter expansion, breathe deeply.

We’re on our own. Here are my thoughts and feelings and what’s behind them: Recently we’ve been hearing about neurosurgeon and author of ‘Proof of Heaven,’ Dr. Eben Alexander, who had a history of believing, based on historical and traditional medical science, that all consciousness stems from the cortex of the brain. Suddenly his own cortex was out of the picture, drenched in pus, and he had a 5% chance of survival, which would be in a nursing home because his brain wouldn’t be functional.

He fully recovered, and relates experiences so real  to him about wonderful things he saw, heard and felt in a different dimension, even a person he’d never seen in life, who actually was family, he discovered later. When asked, he relates that yes, there is a God, which is an ever-present, loving energy, not with a face or body, but a presence, and with no religions, which only seem to separate us here instead of bond us together …all communication was without words…and all of this without his brain cortex functioning. He now meditates because that is like the other dimension, which is always available.

Now the world has a scientist stating that he knows consciousness is actually outside of our brain and body. We, who have studied metaphysics, have known this from proof by other PhDs, scientists, biologists, and engineers preaching to the choir, and our lives embrace and reveal it. So here is this book on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list for 5 weeks, at No.1! This is what I call expansion of consciousness by the many. Formerly closed minds are opening quickly. A shift is happening.

Ac Tah, a Maya elder, indicates the following: his ancestors recorded changes in consciousness by time. They know time is infinity and left us a calendar so, at this time, we could start a new count based on spiritual consciousness. Evolution is about passion, joy, energy and love. Those humans who do not experience it are the ’walking dead’ and should get down to finding true meaning in their lives; (evolve/ascend).

Pyramids are natural technology designed to ground and hold higher transmitted energies sent to earth at different times, to be broadcast to the pineal glands within the brains of us all, opening up perception to a wider range of spiritual frequencies. The change toward harmony and well-balanced humanity is not going to happen by one person with a magical staff in his hand, but is the responsibility of each person, for the shift. Begin now, not on December 22.

He also says that beginning mid-day December 21, through to mid-day December 23, we will receive a download of higher consciousness, reaching its peak half-way through, which would be mid-day December 22, and the peak will last 8 minutes. He suggests we be ready with pencil and paper because though we will receive great ideas for creating a great future on our planet, they will fade as do other thoughts, if not remembered and acted upon at some time.

To conclude: Jupiter is the naturally ruling planet of Sagittarius, and Sagittarius is where we have our New Moon on December 13. New Moons grow new experiences, and this is our last new Moon of this year, 2012.

What we put out, sow and grow at this New Moon Dec. 13 will peak and reap, at the Full Moon December 28, and the next New Moon new growth, will be in January.

Jupiter and Sagittarius both resonate with traits of higher truth, wisdom, reaching beyond boundaries, space, travel in space, higher consciousness of spiritual masters, optimism, joy, generosity, good luck, inclusiveness, laughter, learning, expanding our minds, teaching, etc., so this is what can begin to grow Dec. 13.

Since the beginning of 2012 our many Mercury retrogrades, and lengthy Venus and Mars retrogrades and shadows have taken up most of this entire year! Venus and Mars only retrograde every 2 years;  they needed to be here in 2012 to get us ready for ascension. They all brought us into the past to review and revise ourselves and our lives. At last, with this New Moon, the new you and the future you’ve worked on, is ahead and will grow what you plant.

12/12/12 may be an auspicious dawning of awakening, and the next day, the day of the Sagittarius New Moon’s beginnings, December 13, Uranus goes forward again after being retrograde, bringing a surprising surge of big energy forward, in Aries. Uranus rules shocking awakening truths, revolution for living in high consciousness, brotherhood, freedom, seeing the future 40 years’ ahead, the angelic realm, UFOs and all media communication. Aries is about being reborn, fresh from God, asking us to begin again, like springtime, and discover who we really are.

The best way to make decisions is to follow the heart. Anxiety and fear may mean no – not in the best interests to follow the path of those thoughts; what might they reap? Faith and calm are likely a yes. Stay in the love, the calm, open to intuition received centered in the heart, the positive expectation. Accept the new and your new you.

If there ever was a time to tweak ourselves and let go of traits that don’t serve us, it is now. Mercury (which rules communication and our daily actions) has completed its recent job, over the last month, of bringing us into clearer understanding of our inner thoughts, feelings and actions, so we should now have new insight on where we want our focus to be.

Our Wednesday, November 28, 2012 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini is doing its job, in harmony with Mercury moving us into forward motion and outward action. Full Moons bring full light and full emotion on whatever traits belong to the zodiac sign it becomes Full in, which is Gemini. Gemini’s ruling planet is Mercury so they mean the same thing; i.e. communication and daily doings.

At Full Moons, because situations have reached their peak; their fullness, they begin then, to get smaller in size, just like the Moon does, as it now begins to show less light/size night after night until it’s out of sight; when we then have our New Moons which begin to grow in light/size again until it reaches Full Moon. So at Full Moons or after, it is our time to minimize, diminish and let go, with the help of the sign’s traits where it was located at Full.

If you want to shed weight at this Full Moon in Gemini, now is the time to focus on the beliefs you have about it or what people have said in the past that you took on and gave power to, which may have led to its gain, so now shift and release those thoughts and daily habits. It’s time to lessen the burden/weight carried.

If you desire to extinguish a fear or an addiction, start exposing the inner thoughts and words you use, connected with it now. You get the idea. What do you want to let go of? Because the Moon became full in Gemini and Gemini rules all communication, let’s focus on the inner mind, outer words and let those, without benefit, go.

Why is now such an important opportunity for big change in ourselves? Without too many words on other relevant astrological support, I will just say, This is not just a regular Full Moon for monthly releases; it is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses bring new fate and destiny, by eclipsing out the old.

This is also a time to be gentle with how you talk to yourself. Rather than give in to the urge of berating yourself for what isn’t perfect, can we take a deep breath while thinking about how we are learning and growing from this situation, thereby realizing it has been a gift?

Certainly being demeaned doesn’t empower us to change, but can make us cower, feeling less than. Remember, we shall strive to treat others respectfully, in the same way that we desire to be treated. Always honor yourself, no matter what, and treat yourself with the same love you bestow on others.

In these holy times, remember compassion, forgiveness and understanding is enlightened communication; a great habit and The best Gift.

First, many thanks to each of you, worldwide, for reading my columns. And thanks to you, Sedona’s Red Rock News, for publishing them for us. We’ve surpassed our one year anniversary and it’s thanks to all of you.

Thanksgiving week has arrived, and that deserves my honoring its unique time with my ramblings on the subject in the written word. I think back to a column I wrote in South Florida perhaps 15 years ago, that thankfulness is a full time job. In fact, it’s not a job but a privilege.

People want to know how to feel joy. One of the best ways, is to notice how much we have. “Let me count the ways.” A sense of entitlement and taking things for granted can keep joy from being felt, by the omission of cherishing every morsel about life. What isn’t recognized can’t bring you the joy that’s innate in the thing.

In essence, it’s giving thanks for every gift; not only what you might judge as a big gift, believing that those are the only ones worthy of gratefulness. A great way to start the day, even before getting out of bed, could be thinking about how grateful you are for the bed! For the comb and brush, the cleansing gel and towel, the slippers, the toothbrush.

Have we forgotten how glad we are to have even little things that make such a big difference? Let’s consider them gifts. I know you’ll be able to uncover the other gifts you’re actually thankful for, from the food…that you like… being kept fresh for you, to the delay in traffic allowing you to be able to more fully enjoy the view.

Then, on the other hand, the thanks can be gained from the giving. Thank yourself, because it feels so wonderful to give, that it becomes your own gift to yourself. Yep, even more than hearing thanks from the person receiving the gift. Remember you didn’t give to receive, or that isn’t pure giving. The gift is the joy of giving.

You more likely gave to realize the joy in the other receiving, or that you wanted to help them have a better life experience. Have you noticed the joy in giving? Sometimes their expression upon seeing your gift is so fulfilling, sometimes their crying in thanks makes you cry in joy. Sometimes thanks may come a lot later, and may mean even more then.

One more thing: If you can tune in to a different frequency and listen to the inner voice say what’s good about something or someone, love unconditionally and have faith that things happen for a higher purpose, and work out as they 'should;' as opposed to listening to the same old negative frequency that loves to tell us what is not good about a person, place or thing (often our inner fears, habits or what someone else said) you will receive the gift that was always there at a higher frequency. Calm.

PS, You are a gift, and don’t need to qualify, or be perfect. Our gift is being able to continue to better ourselves, but You,… however You are wrapped right now, are already a Gift to the world.

Happy Thanks Giving!

We hear from everywhere, these days, to be positive and expect the best outcome. Of course, you know I agree. Yet if someone were going on a job interview with only blind faith and a sense of entitlement, there could be a few stumbling blocks in the way; for instance if they were not qualified for the job, wearing dirty wrinkled clothing mixing unpleasant odor with heavy cologne, or texting during the interview… You get the idea.

Expecting the best also carries with it the responsibility for us to do whatever we can to help ensure a favorable outcome.

Life, itself, is a gift we can all be thankful for, and one to be prepared for, every day. We buy groceries and clothing for all occasions, groom and shower regularly. We go to school to understand society, its history and systems, plus create an income to keep life alive. Providing fun and love is our responsibility too.

It certainly helps to know the subject matter that is coming up in your life, and prepare. Like studying for a test, or planning a wedding. When we get warnings that unfavorable situations are on their way, certainly we take precautions, such as going to plan B; moving the wedding indoors to avoid rain, or for those in Hawaii, recently, heading for higher ground with survival items, heeding alerts a tsunami was expected.

In less life-threatening situations, such as someone demeaning or insulting you, perhaps threatening to ruin your reputation or dignity, or you discovering your significant other has been making love with someone else, is your soul prepared emotionally, spiritually? We can expect the best from ourselves, and expect the best from life’s days and fellow inhabitants, and even expect the best from potential outcomes, by also being prepared.

Did you receive wisdom and self-esteem from parents and others? Do you know that your worth and joy are not dependant on someone else?  Were you guided to be honest and act with integrity? That can be likened to creating a magnet in your soul which attracts and rewards you with inner peace and best possible resultant experiences. Was there spiritual sustenance provided in some consistent way? You can truly have a real communication connection with God who guides and loves you continually and unconditionally, as you evolve in your spirit.

Let’s stay positive and expect the best possible, always. There is true spiritual magic that manifests from that positive faith and living in the light. There are two sides to every thing, and it’s joyfully fulfilling to place your sure bet on the bright light side. Remember not to shirk your personal responsibility to yourself, of being prepared for unexpected situations, on the other side of the coin, which may flip over. That side also has gifts, lessons for our growth, and ultimate positive outcomes of their own.

What might this mean for you, in particular? For one person it may mean building their self-esteem or committing to integrity. For another it may mean having a sewing kit in their purse. For another, they may purchase insurance of some sort, or for the next person it may mean keeping a blanket, sustenance, tools and gasoline in their vehicle. For yet another, they may set about practicing positive thinking and faith.

Being prepared doesn’t mean you are drawing challenging experiences, just by energizing an action in the direction of ‘what if.’ In fact, the boy scout motto is ‘Be Prepared.‘ We’re talking about looking at both sides of the coin, instead of pretending a flip side doesn’t exist.

There is faith and there is also practicality. You may have heard the story about a person who resisted help which came in various forms, always saying, ‘no thank you, God will provide,’ then having resisted all help, found himself in front of God complaining that God hadn’t saved him, to which God replied, I sent you many forms of help.

Stay happy, stay laughing, stay honest, stay loving, stay positive, stay joyful, stay playing, stay singing, stay faithful to be strong spiritually; and stay practical. For instance keep the body strong enough to enjoy life, and keep your house clean and stocked with treats and sheets, in case guests come unexpectedly. Expect a wonderful visit.
