It comes down to one man’s hobby versus his neighbors’ views.
Last year, Sedona resident Richard Factor obtained a city building permit to install a ham radio tower in the backyard of his Soldier Pass Road home. The tower stands 59 feet, 9 inches and atop is a 40-foot-wide antenna.
Sedona city code states that if an antenna is more than 60 feet high, the owner must obtain a conditional use permit. This includes neighbors being notified and it going before the Sedona Planning and Zoning Commission for possible approval.
