Through a public records request, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office released photos and body camera video footage from deputies and detectives who responded to the fatal shooting of Tyler Miller, 51, of Hutchinson, Kan.

Miller was shot and killed by U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer Krista Kuhns near Briar Patch Inn in Oak Creek Canyon on Jan. 5.

On Jan. 5, 51-year-old Tyler Miller, of Hutchinson, Kan., was shot and killed by U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer Krista Kuhns near Briar Patch Inn in Oak Creek Canyon.

The FBI took over the investigation because the shooting involved a federal officer.

While the FBI has not responded to requests for further information, Larson Newspapers acquired an 18-page Coconino County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report, comprising seven firsthand narratives by CCSO deputies, was completed on Jan. 16, but CCSO did not release the report to media outlets until this week — despite multiple requests for information over the past month.

Almost four decades ago, artist couple Michael Kahn and Leda Livant Kahn came to Cornville and created what would become a three-acre hand-built art village — Eliphante.

The structures — originally intended to be the couple’s home — incorporate recycled materials and elements from the land. The labyrinthian dwellings along the banks of Oak Creek give off characteristics of storybook surrealism.
The couple worked on the installation until Kahn’s death in 2007. Livant felt it best to pass on the project to another bohemian couple.

The Sedona Police Department is seeking the assistance in locating Parker Gales, a suspect reportedly involved in a physical altercation on Saturday, Jan. 27, in the Sedona Rouge Resort parking lot.

Webster’s Dictionary defines collusion as a “secret agreement or cooperation especially for an illegal or deceitful purpose.”

So when an elected or appointed official is accused of it, it’s not taken lightly.

Tim Ernster, a member of the Sedona Fire District’s Governing Board, was recently accused of it and is now seeking an investigation into the allegations.

The matter was agendized for the board’s Wednesday, Jan. 17, meeting. However, the board chose to discuss the matter in executive session along with another item. This is not open to the public, but they directed SFD legal counsel Bill Whittington to investigate the matter.
