Sedona residents… please read!

I know this isn’t necessarily real estate related, but it’s important for all Sedona area residents!!!

The deadline is fast approaching for you to do your good deeds for the 2009 year… and please remember to make your annual donation to the Sedona School system (maybe West Sedona school if you haven’t made your mind up yet) and to a local organization that helps the working poor (Sedona Community Center, Sedona Food Bank, Old Town Mission, Rotary Vocational Foundation, and many others)  Each resident that makes money and pays taxes should make a donation before the end of the year.  You’re allowed to donate $200 if filing solo and $400 for a couple  – and these donations will be credited to your tax liability for this year.  So, as a married couple my wife and I are allowed to give $400 to the West Sedona school sports department and we’ll pay $400 less in taxes when we pay in April.  It’s a great way to guarantee the tax dollars you already have to pay… get spent here in town instead of Phoenix.  The same qualifications exist for donations to the working poor… as described earlier.  My wife and I are planning on giving $400 to West Sedona School and another $400 split between the Sedona Food Bank and another yet to be determined charity.  This $800 we’re paying now will be deducted from our taxes when we file in the spring!!!  So, do a good deed today and keep your tax dollars in Sedona!!!
