West Sedona residents are being asked to use caution when out walking after a mountain lion was sighted in the area of Calle Linda in the Casa Contenta subdivision.

A mountain lion was recently spotted in Casa Contenta. Arizona Game and Fish said there are usually 10 to 20 sightings reported each year in the Sedona area.A resident in the area reported the sighting just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15. According to a report from the Sedona Casa Contenta Homeowners Association, the animal was seen in front of a residence. Other reports have placed mountain lion sightings in Uptown and on Soldier Pass Road.

Resident Bill Lundy said the Casa Contenta mountain lion was likely young, due to its size.

There was a mountain lion in my yard on Jan 5, 2013, he jumped the stucco wall and his prints are still there! Much bigger than a Bob Cat! I live in the Village, so be on alert!

I live on Oak Creek Blvd., in West Sedona; saw a small mountain lion walking up toward Water Company in daylight hrs...around 10 a.m., about a month ago, but never reported it. It cut over to walk up into the forest above 20-30 yds before the gate.
