The Verde Valley Soccer Club’s U11 girls team took home first-place medals in one of the biggest soccer tournaments in Northern Arizona.

The Verde Valley Fushion soccer players show off their gold medals after winning the U11 Girls Division at the Soccer at the Summit in Flagstaff on Sept. 28. This was the first tournament of the season for the girls. The Verde Valley Fusion of the Verde Valley Soccer Club took first place at the Soccer at the Summit tournament in Flagstaff on Sept. 22 and 23. The Fusion won the Girls U11 Silver Bracket before taking the U11 division. They were undefeated throughout the tournament.

The tournament is sanctioned by the U.S. Youth Soccer Arizona class A and G and the Arizona Youth Soccer Association. The tournaments have 11 divisions that are divided by age: from U8 to U18 for girls and for boys. Over 75 teams participated during the girls weekend with the majority of teams coming from around the state.

In its second year as a team, the Fusion dominated the field in its division.

In its first game Saturday, the Fusion defeated the SC Del Sol of Phoenix, 6-1. Marli Urueta started the lead early with a penalty shot.

This team needs to be investigated by the AYSA, their players are older than they claim. The original birth cirtificate must be shown for all players.

Funny you say that(Dennislg) why would aysa have this team playing if indeed they are liying about the girls age.Plus is not about anyone else but except each girl that puts 100% effort in winning. So might I ask to why ur comment. Is this some jealosy issue.I think this team is doing well and may many more wins to come keep up the good an thank you for representing the Verde Valley...An come on lets not initiate a debate is not like we are the any type of candidates.

Thank you Dennislg for trying to rain on our parade but if you are claiming to know these girls from last season you would have known that the girls were indeed playing up and were going against girls older than them..AYSA checks all forms and DOB before registering the team and our DOB are checked at tournaments. So maybe you should try to praise these girls instead of trying to knock them down..each and every girl on this team is DEDICATED and SKILLED they deserve to be where they are SO please keep an eye out for VVSC Fusion there is more to come. If you have any questions or concerns about my players please feel free to email me I have no problem assisting you in any clarification you may need!
Cassondra Olivarez
cassolivarez@yahoo.com
