Traffic changes set for I-40 near Winslow1 min read

Northern Arizona drivers who use Interstate 40 should plan for a traffic realignment onto temporary crossovers between the east and westbound travel lanes at the Cottonwood Wash bridges from milepost 259 to 260, approximately five miles east of Winslow.

The crossover is required for crews to complete a bridge improvement project that includes removing and replacing the existing bridge decks and reconstructing the roadway bridge approaches.

This project is being completed in two phases. Work on the first phase, eastbound I-40, was completed last spring. Construction paused for the winter season and crews are resuming work on the westbound I-40 bridges this spring. The project is expected to be complete late 2019.

Speed limits through the work zone will be reduced to 55 mph and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
