Students and Lions give vision to Malawi children1 min read

The Verde Valley School, in conjunction with the Sedona Oak Creek Canyon Lions Club, is collecting used prescription eyeglasses as part of its Malawi Millennium Development Goals Project, aimed at helping those in need in Blantyre, Malawi.

MDG Program Director Caroline Diehl said that the idea behind the eyeglass program came initially from local Lions Club member Randy Crewse after a long brainstorming session with VVS Head of School Graham Frey.

“The eyeglass project is pretty neat. It started two years ago, and Randy Crewse, who’s now on our board and is a Lion, has been sponsoring a family in Malawi,” Diehl said. “He’s also an old friend of Graham’s.”
