The Sedona Red Rock High School swim team captains take on a ton of responsibility.

Junior Haley Holverson and senior Jacob Decker both started swimming at young ages and are now two of the standout captains of the Sedona Red Rock High School swim team. The team placed eighth in the 2011 Arizona Swimming and Diving Finals. Not only do they have to worry about their own techniques, personal records and winning events, they must set an example of a good teammate, be motivators and most importantly, have the type of leadership that will guide the team to victory.

Even though the Scorpions swim team has a number of exceptional captains, two of them really stand out.

Junior Haley Holverson and senior Jacob Decker both started swimming competitively at young ages, and both had to take a break from the sport for different reasons. This season, they are ready to lead the Scorpions to the state championship.

“We are going to do awesome this year,” Holverson said. “We have new, good swimmers, and we all look promising.”
