There are two newly crowned world champions in Sedona, and they are both younger than 15 years old.
“It was nerve-racking,” Jessica Kirkham, 14, said. “But it was really fun at the same time.” Cowboy Action Shooting is part of the Single Action Shooting Society. According to its website, SASS is “an international organization created to preserve and promote the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting.” With more than 90,000 members registered and 35,000 actively shooting from the ages of 10 to 90, SASS seeks to protect Second Amendment rights and preserve the history of the Old West and competitive shooting. Siblings Jessica and Cody Kirkham each claimed a world champion title at the 31st annual End of Trail, the World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. The event was held June 21 through June 24 in Founder’s Ranch, N.M., not far from Albuquerque.
