The Big Park Community School boys basketball team begins the 2011-2012 season looking to improve off a terrible 2010-2011 year when the Coyotes only won two games.
“The kids are starting to work together. I don’t think this year is a rebuilding year. I’d like to say we’re going to compete and hopefully we will,” Hallenbeck said. The Coyotes have four returners from last season which include eighth-graders Austin Samano and Keaton Burns. Seventh-graders Randy Rodriguez and Neil Smith return as well giving Hallenbeck something to work with in the starting rotation. Newcomers to the “A” ball squad this season include eighth-grader Alec Davidson, who should be a guard this winter, and seventh-graders Walker Cox and Charles Rescigno. Cox should play forward for Hallenbeck and the Coyotes while Rescigno is one of the top centers on the team. “Randy [Rodriguez] and Neil [Smith] should be our top kids this year, but the others are looking good too,” Hallenbeck said. The Coyotes will open this season on the road Tuesday, Nov. 29, when they travel to Clarkdale-Jerome School. Big Park’s first game at home is set for Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the Coyotes welcome Mayer Middle School. |

Head Coach Julie Hallenbeck, who enters her second year at the helm of the Coyotes, said this season isn’t about rebuilding, and thinks Big Park will compete.
