The Sedona Red Rock High cross country team boarded a bus headed south on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and participated in the Fountain Hills High Invitational, which took place at Desert Canyon Golf Course. …

The Sedona Jr. High football team continues to search for answers as they dropped their fourth contest in a row, this time to Granite Mountain over the weekend by the final score of 32-0.

The biggest reason for Sedona’s early 0-4 record may be the fact that 11 of the 17 players on Sedona’s team also play on the Majors football team for the Red Rock Youth Football program.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Majors played a game against the Prescott Badgers and lost 19-16.…

Entering only their third season in existence the Scorpions [Majors] are expecting big things this year and hope to do well enough on the field to make the playoffs come November.

First year Head Coach Kent Adams has a positive outlook from his team this season, and judging by watching the boys beat up on each other in practice the past three weeks or so, he believes they will be readyto go.

“We have been at it for a while now with the pads on, and everything is going well so far,” Adams said.…

Usually when writing these season previews for our favorite teams in Sedona, a recap of last season, key losses, top returners and even top newcomers are the normal format.

For the newly formed Sedona Jr. High Scorpion football team, it is their first year of existence in this town, which may make this a special treat for those dedicated football fans out there who can’t wait to see how these kids play out this season.

With the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing well under way, and the American swim team doing better than ever, the Sedona Red Rock High swim team began their preseason practice routines looking for another good showing at the 1A-3A state championship meet like they had during the 2007 campaign.

For the boys, the Scorpions scored 316 points in last year’s 1A-3A state championship meet, good enough for a second place finish, falling only to Valley Christian High, who finished with 344 points and walked away with the title.…

A new trend will begin during this 2008-09 school year which will see the Sedona Red Rock High boys and girls soccer team now play in the winter instead of the more traditional fall season.

The soccer season starts Monday, Nov. 3.

The move was approved by board members of the Arizona Interscholastic Association back in May, so the Scorpions will get a chance to see new opponents and new road trips this coming winter.

The Scorpions will be placed in the 1A-3A North region, which boasts far more teams than the 1A-3A conference they have been in for 10-plus years.…

For the first time in Northern Arizona history, a 16-year-old tennis player has qualified for what is the largest and most prestigious junior tennis tournament in the United States …
