As the scoring average for the Sedona Red Rock High School boys basketball team goes upward with each game, so do the wins.

Decker and the Scorpions won their fifth straight Saturday, Jan. 18, edging Fountain Hills High School, 72-69.

The Scorpions [9-11] had their third straight game scoring 70 or more points Saturday, Jan. 18, eking out a 72-69 victory over Fountain Hills High School at SRRHS to improve to 5-2 in Division III, Section III.

Senior guard Cris Paderas continued his hot shooting, scoring 17 against the Falcons after scoring 45 points against Camp Verde High School to beat the Cowboys 103-64 on Jan. 14. That was eight points short of the individual single-game scoring record and puts Paderas at ninth in the nation and top in the state in scoring, according to SRRHS athletic director A. Jay Bronson.

“I’ve never seen anybody have a shooting performance like Cris did the other day,” head boys basketball coach Greg Strickling said. “Ironically, it’s the least amount of shots he’s taken in a game.”
