One of the first things someone told me when I started to drive was, “Be careful what kind of stickers you put on you car. They say a lot about the person driving.”

I was reminded last week we aren’t the only newspapers that don’t run every letter to the editor we receive verbatim when my publisher handed me an e-mail highlighting some basics of publishing letters.

The e-mail outlines excerpts from “Community Journalism/A Way of Life,” by Bruce Kennedy, regarding letters to the editor.

The excerpt says, “Print all the sincere letters you receive, bud don’t feel obligated to print those which are more interested in personally attacking the editor than in making a point.”…

Mistakes.

We all make them.

Thank God, it would be just awful if everyone was perfect. Especially with so many viewpoints from so many varied people with different backgrounds.

It is even worse when your mistake gets in print for all the world to see.…

The ballots for the current Sedona election have been mailed and all residents now have the chance to show what the “real” majority stands for in this community.

I must admit, this has been by far the most contentious election on record. The threats, harassment and blatant lies have been done at a level none of us had ever seen before in Sedona.…

Contrary to what some people are saying, the city did not deliberately stack the deck against voting for the mayor.…

Our city of Sedona finances are a matter of public record and in my many years of reviewing the city budget, Sedona is very good at making public records available to all Sedona residents.
