It’s time to fill open seats on community boards and this election season could become as interesting as a Sedona City Council election.

The Sedona-Oak Creek School District Governing Board looks like it won’t even be a race. So far, just enough candidates have thrown their names into the hat to fill the board.

If another school board candidate doesn’t turn up in the next two weeks...
 
Balance needed to protect forest and the right to recreate Print E-mail

On Sept. 3, 1964, the United States Congress adopted the Wilderness Act to protect undeveloped land and wildlife in our country.

Today, the U.S. Forest Service continues to protect parcels of land designated wilderness and in some areas, including the Verde Valley, it’s pushing for more acreage.

 

The Coconino National Forest is asking the public for feedback on 10 potential wilderness...

It’s hot, it’s humid, it’s sticky, and I’m out of here.

Give me 105 with no humidity, and I’m a happy camper. In fact, I’ve grown quite accustom to and fond of Arizona’s heat, but when monsoon arrives I’m miserable.

When I complain, copy editor Constance Israel, an Alabama native, reminds me what we’re experiencing isn’t humidity by any measure in the Southeast.
